Composer, singer and author Domina Monriel, in collaboration with the Arts Council Greece, presented during the ‘International Day of Living Together in Peace’ (16/5) an original multimedia collective project titled "Art Unites Us All", in which participated 210 artists from all over the world. In particular, 105 musicians, 79 dancers took part in the project, including our group Pas Par tu Dance Company, 26 painters and photographers. The audiovisual material, the activities of orchestral arts and kinesiology are inspired by the original musical composition of Domina Monriel.
1. In what way "Art unites us all"?
Art is a safe place to exist as we really are, no matter what society wants from us, no matter what other versions it may have of itself. Through art, everyone can express what they really believe, without fear of looking "strange" or not being accepted. Socially, being different often effects as a stigma, while art embraces this particularity. In fact, I would say that "weirdos" are often the ones who have the most interest in the way they express themselves.
2. How did you manage to coordinate 210 artists from different countries?
It was necessary having a thorough organization. Theregular and targeted communication with the participants, but also the composition of the appropriate team. I would say that the whole project was a challenge of possibilities, but, after the material was collected, it could not have been rendered in the way I would have liked without people with a common vision in the team.
3. We would like you to tell us the names of the Project & manager of the creator, the Audio Editor, the Video Editor and the project supporters
PROJECT CREATOR & MANAGER : Domina Monriel – Composer, Singer/Songwriter, Author MIXING ENGINEER & AUDIO EDITORS: Keith Jones, Marios Adamopoulos VIDEO PRODUCTION : Correct Creative Productions : [list of your names] TACTICAL CONSULTANT & MARKETER : Natassa Triantafyllou 4. What does the word ART really mean to you?
Art is the reason to wake up every morning. Through art I have the opportunity to evolve, to seek and to discover something new every day. Art motivates me to find interest in what I do and, as a person who is easily getting bored, I find it necessary.
5. "Because I will never know otherwise what I am, unless I try to become what I want to be." This proposal belongs to your book entitled "Discussions without a name". Tell us about it
I personally believe that there is nothing which is impossible. We ourselves set the limits for where we can go. Therefore, if we do not seek to go where we believe we want to go, we will never compete our strengths, endurance and limits. Too often people find the image of the final destination tempting and we say "I want to get there" or "I want to do this". But when we discover the path we need to take in order to get there, we realize what we are really willing to do and what really suits us - I think this is the moment when we are confronted with who we are.
6. Have you thought about how the world of arts will evolve in the context of the new reality we are experiencing due to the pandemic?
I find this question optimistic because, through the pandemic, we have come up with new ways to connect globally and get messages across - and that cannot be lost. It certainly can not replace, for example, a live concert, but now there are other ways that allow access to people who otherwise could not be there.
7. How do you connect your book with music as art forms?
For me, all the arts are connected, as through every form of art the goal is the expression. Concerning the technical part, the words themselves have a rhythm and lyricism, musicality. At the same time, whether there is a flow or intentionally, its absence of it in music is an integral feature of the written word.
8. Is there a project in your immediate future plans?
I am currently working on various professional projects that have been assigned to me, and I am very happy!
